Along with the colleges and government, Sanford Health is a major employer with over 2,000 employees in the area. 
The Quality Inn Bemidji is the largest commercial area between Duluth, Minnesota and Grand Forks, North Dakota. It is located 226 miles north-northwest of the Twin Cities and 109 miles east of Grand Forks, North Dakota. Duluth, Minnesota is 153 miles east.
